The Beast of Gévaudan

Catherine Gravil

‍During the reign of Louis XV, starting in July 1764, a strange beast terrorized the Lozère and Haute-Loire regions. Its story remains an enigma. Was it a pack of large wolves, a monstrous animal straight from hell, or a hybrid of a hyena and a wolf? To this day, the mystery persists, and historians continue to ponder its origins. Every week, for three years, women and children were attacked and devoured.

‍Four cousins, Lou, Jeanne, Antoine, and Marie-Caroline, will travel back in time and discover the daily lives of Lozère's peasants during the dark days when the Beast reigned.

‍Will they finally solve this mystery that haunts the collective memory?

‍Readers will find out by following their adventures in this secret and wild Lozère.

‍For young readers aged 8 and up.
