The Beast of Gévaudan is not a myth, and its numerous victims deserve better than it being reduced to a terrible thriller.
It’s in part for this reason that Pierric Guittaut threw himself into pursuing it ten years ago.
A novelist known for his rural crime thrillers, he is also a hunter and shooter of gunpowder, passionate about history. After several trips to Margeride, the author brings us the most complete survey ever realized on the subject: essential analysis from the depths of the archives, reconstruction of gunshots, and anatomical comparisons. All suspects are covered and reviewed. Challenging preconceived notions, the conclusions of this investigation are left unpublished, allowing us to reclaim for ourselves a whole segment of our rural history which has fallen into oblivion.
Overcoming obstacles, the reader will find himself following the footsteps of an authentic specimen of the Beast of Gévaudan, which waited for several decades in the reticence of a museum of Nature in which we (re)discover its illustrious parentage. 250 years after the end of the events of the Beast of Gévaudan, Pierric Guittaut finally brings us the keys to understand this enigma, which was not just one mystery…
